Before Acceptance
The corresponding author may request withdrawal by writing from the registered email address and stating the reason. The journal may ask all authors to confirm the request when authorship or consent is unclear.
After Acceptance or Production
Once substantive editorial or production work has begun, withdrawal requires an editorial decision. Requests made to avoid addressing an ethical concern, duplicate submission or authorship dispute may be investigated rather than immediately granted.
After Publication
A published article is part of the scholarly record and is not normally removed. Material problems are handled through a correction, retraction or other permanent notice. Removal may be considered only for exceptional legal, privacy or safety reasons, while retaining an appropriate bibliographic record where lawful.
